The world behind the stories

About DragonsTales

An old idea made possible by new tools: build worlds that remember, and honor the stories they tell.

Why it exists

Stories lose meaning when the world forgets them.

DragonsTales creates worlds that exist as more than the current conversation. People pursue goals. Relationships evolve. Situations remain unresolved. Time belongs to the world as well as the player.

Artificial intelligence supplies imagination. The engine supplies memory, continuity, and consequence. Together they make room for stories that are discovered through play rather than selected from paths prepared in advance.

Build worlds that remember. Honor the stories they tell.

The origin

An idea thirty years in the making.

Thirty years ago, while playing games, I kept running into the same boundary: so much of the world had already been built, so many choices had already been made, and the player could only travel along paths someone else had anticipated.

I began imagining a different kind of game—one where reality expanded like a fractal. The universe would begin with a handful of defining truths, generate detail as the player drew close enough to encounter it, and remember everything that became real along the way.

For years, the idea never progressed much beyond notes, design patterns, and thought experiments. Life intervened: marriage, children, dogs, and the occasional moose.

Then came the rise of generative AI, chatbots, and character-driven experiences. I dusted off those old notes and returned to the part generation alone could not solve: how a universe should remember what the player discovered, preserve what their choices changed, and continue moving when their attention turned elsewhere.

That old idea became DragonsTales—a living world shaped through imagination, held together by memory, and allowed to grow beyond the paths anyone planned in advance.

Current status

Actively building toward invite-only beta.

The current DragonsTales build can create owned campaigns from guided inspirations and support freeform, long-form play across close scenes, extended activity, downtime, and larger jumps through time.

It persists characters, places, events, relationships, ongoing narrative threads, and the current dramatic focus so later turns can draw from the campaign’s accumulated history.

The invite-only beta will focus on what only extended play can reveal: relationship evolution, pacing, continuity, time passage, off-screen change, and whether remembered consequences feel natural rather than mechanical.

This is an evolving beta, not a finished quest catalogue. Exploratory players who enjoy shaping a world through language will be the best fit.

Product status and direction

What exists, what beta is testing, and where the idea may lead.

These labels separate behavior in the current build from active evaluation and longer-term ambition. Direction is not a delivery promise.

Available now

A persistent foundation for play

Create an owned campaign, play in freeform language, move between close scenes and longer spans of time, and return to a world that carries forward its people, places, events, relationships, ongoing situations, and current dramatic focus.

Beta focus

The qualities only long play can test

Invite-only beta will evaluate continuity across long campaigns, pacing, character knowledge, relationship evolution, off-screen change, remembered consequences, and the clarity of the player experience.

Long-term direction

Deeper worlds with careful stewardship

The longer vision includes richer world simulation and ways for creators and intellectual-property stewards to define the identity, boundaries, and continuity of worlds that players can genuinely affect.
